With a couple of injuries and not a win to show for their first couple week of action, the Blue Jackets are doing some shuffling within their roster to try and give themselves a boost. Unfortunately, this has meant that Box 8 forward, Matt Calvert, was unlucky enough to be sent down to the minors on Monday, making room for someone to muck their way through a game and hopefully grind it out the hard way. I would imagine Calvert will make his way back up to the club, but it's hard to say when.
On the opposite side of reasoning, the Vancouver Canucks had to make room for the impending return of forward Ryan Kesler, which meant that Box 14 defenseman Chris Tanev was the kid who drew the short straw and was sent down to the minors on Monday. Tanev is among a deep group of defenseman with the club and does not have to clear waivers to get to the minors, so the decision was rather simple. Sending the young defender down does not risk any of their veterans in the line-up.
