An undisclosed lower-body injury kept Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane out of the line-up as the team took on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. Thankfully for the team, the Penguins had been dealing with their own injuries and the Jets were not in dire need for Kane's services in a 2-1 victory.
The injury was caused by blocking a shot on the weekend, but that was the only detail handed out by the coaching staff of the Jets, so it does leave a lot to the imagination. We'll just consider him out day-to-day for the the time being.
In the first three games of the season, Kane has failed to register a point and when you tack on the injury on top of everything, it makes for a pretty poor start for him.
In the draft, Kane was Leon G.'s 9th round pick, expecting some fairly big things out of the youngster this year. Through Monday night's action, Leon currently sits in 17th spot in the standings, already 24 points behind 1st place.
