Afternoon Player Notes (Dec 17)

Sam Bennett of the Calgary Flames is nursing an upper-body injury of sorts and it held him out of Sunday afternoon's game against the St. Louis Blues, but the injury is said to e minor and he's considered to be day-to-day for right now.  The Flames are in Dallas on Tuesday night, but there has been no announcement of the team's expectations for a return then or any time down the line.  This season, Bennett has 10 points in 33 games, working in the team's bottom six.

Our current pool leader, Troy, opted to take a flyer on Bennett at the Waiver Draft a couple of weeks ago and since then, the gritty forward has played in six games and posted a goal.  Troy had to replace a major injury, so any production from that spot was going to be appreciated.

The Ottawa Senators are having a tough time keeping players healthy this season and another player has fallen to injury, as forward Ryan Dzingel was hurt in practice on Monday morning, ahead of their game against the Predators.  He was shoved into the boards awkwardly by teammate Zack Smith and came up clutching his arm, nursing what could be a shoulder injury.  There was no update as to whether or not he'll play tonight, but if he doesn't we at least know why.

The hits just keep on coming for Eric's team, which has now already seen the Basement Dweller nod three times this year, but remarkably, still isn't in last place.  His team opens up play this week in 22nd, 24 points clear of last and has the least amount of projected games to play this week, due to other injuries.
