Ryan Out Indefinitely With Concussion

The Ottawa Senators management team offered up some more injury updates to their key players that they lost earlier this week against Montreal and the biggest update of the bunch was the placement of Bobby Ryan on the Injured Reserve, dealing with a concussion.  There is no timetable for his return and it sounds like it could be a long-term issue, but the recovery is player dependent, so it will differ for each guy.

The Senators took a couple of serious hits to their roster this week, which also included forward Matt Duchene, so now the offense will have a couple big pieces removed from it for the foreseeable future.  Ryan has 6 goals and 18 points in 29 games this season, which is good enough for 142nd overall in pool scoring after Friday night's action and currently 8th on the team in scoring as well.

Ryan was Jeremy's 4th-best forward on his team, to this point in the season, certainly chipping in from time-to-time, but he hasn't been an offensive force, as such.  On the plus side, he was a huge bargain pick, being taken in the last round of the draft, 348th overall, so there was a ton of upside on that pick, for sure.  There's a good chance that he will return before his rank slips that far.

Jeremy's team will open play on Saturday in 14th place with 229 points, 36 points out of the money.
