Sens' Duchene on IR

Further to the notes this morning, the Ottawa Senators have placed forward Matt Duchene on the Injured Reserve on Friday, retroactive to Thursday night, with his lower-body injury.

There has been no actual timetable given for his injury, but the placement on the IR means that he won't be eligible to come off until next Thursday, which means he misses Saturday's home game against Pittsburgh, Sunday's home game against Boston and Tuesday's road game in Nashville, at the very least.

Duchene is now the highest ranked player on the injured list, ranking 12th going into tonight's action with 12 goals and 34 points in 29 games this season, which is a 1st round pick worth of scoring to this point in the season.

Jesse's run of bad luck continues and this bargain pick, taken in the 7th round, 169th overall, is now lost for an indefinite period of time and of course, that means his ranking will plummet and quickly.  Since Duchene was such a huge part of Jesse's team, to this point in the season, however long he is out will now dictate how far his team may fall in the standings.  Amidst play already started on Friday night, Jesse's team ranks 12th in the standings, 32 points out of the money.
