A relatively quiet Friday night in the NHL to be had, as there are only four games on the docket, limiting the number of goalie points, but there's still enough firepower in these four games that should keep some teams' interest in the action tonight.
Kristy & Don have overtaken the Mover & Shaker spot at the top of the weekly standings, now sitting with 24 points, 2 points above both Stacey M. and Benson after Thursday night's action. Grant sits 3 points back and Troy's team is 4 points back, keeping this race nice and close.
At the other end of the standings, Brenda & Seward are not having the best of luck, sitting with 8 points, all by themselves down there. Steve, Stacey C. and Scott are all at 11 points and there is another group of teams at 13 points, so if the duo can ride a wave of points this weekend, they could probably pass a number of teams and keep themselves clear.
Martin Jones (Brenda & Seward) versus Ben Bishop (Clayton)
The duo can start in Dallas, where their goalie will get the nod again for the visiting Sharks, taking on the Stars. Martin Jones will get the nod against Ben Bishop, giving Clayton his first start of the week. Clayton's team is among that group at 13 points, so the duo can really make up some ground with a win in this game tonight there. They'd be catching up to one team, at least.
Jake Allen (Steve) versus Connor Hellebuyck (Jeremy)
The Blues and the Jets will meet up in a Central Division match-up and the goalie match-up should be pretty good. Steve's team will have Jake Allen going for the visitors and his team needs 2 points to join Jeremy's team at 13 points, but Jeremy has a pretty good goalie going too in Connor Hellebuyck. I believe the last time these two teams met, the Blues' goaltending got lit up a little bit.
Devan Dubnyk (Wes) versus Cam Talbot (Mike)
The Minnesota Wild finish their Alberta swing in Edmonton on back-to-back nights, which leads me to believe that they will go with their number one, who didn't go last night in Calgary, Devan Dubnyk. Wes' team is among the pool leaders in goalie participation and points and there's certainly an opportunity for more. The Oilers are going back to the well with Cam Talbot, who got his first win since October the other night, which is good news for Mike, if he can get hot.
Petr Mrazek (Stacey C.) versus John Gibson (Kristy & Don)
In the late game tonight, the Anaheim Ducks will celebrate their 25th anniversary with another one of their retro jersey warm-ups, when they welcome the Carolina Hurricanes to town for a visit. The goalie match-up will feature our current Mover & Shaker team, the duo of Kristy & Don, and Stacey's team, which is down among the 11-point teams this week.
