As mentioned before in the Cold Player section of the newsletter, the goaltending situation is in dire straits, when it comes to consistency. So, the management has moved towards calling up their young prospect, Karri Ramo (non-pool) to see if they can right the ship.
Both Marc Denis (Box 24 - pictured) and Johan Holmqvist (Clayton) have been wildly inconsistent and streaky beyond belief. If the Lightning were to sort out their goaltending, they would be immediate contenders for a long playoff run. They already have a case for having the best player in the NHL already and plenty of offensive weapons to compliment him.
Tonight against Toronto, it will be a battle of two teams that have had some tough times trying to keep a lead through 2 periods. Toronto, being quite bad at only a .667 winning percentage after 2 and Tampa sitting at .800. Usually the good teams are well into the .900's when it comes to keeping leads.
The Lightning are also yet to post a shutout this season... and despite Ramo's 2-4 record in the AHL, the future still looks pretty bright for this young Finn.
