It looks as though the Capitals will be without one of their top defenders for the time being. Brian Pothier (Don) broke his thumb the other night and will likely miss at least a couple weeks, but the official diagnosis hasn't come down the pipe as of yet. Once it does, you'll be sure to see it on the injury page.
Pothier hasn't been the offensive juggernaut that the Capitals would have preferred. He only has 12 points in the 33 games he's played in, which is a fair cry away from expectations. The case should be made that the defender doesn't get to touch the puck as much with the dynamic forwards taking the puck from their own end and moving it forward without any help from their defenders.
