Huselius Sits as a Scratch

It has not been a good season for Kristian Huselius and it has come to a point with a trip up to the Blue Jackets' press box as a healthy scratch on Friday night. Huselius has drawn the ire of the Jackets coaching staff, so a trip upstairs was in order to hopefully help his perspective on the game. I would expect to see Huselius in the Jackets' next game, which goes tonight, as they host the Oilers to finish off their week's worth of games.

With a foot injury and some pretty uninspired play this season, Huselius has only registered 9 goals and 6 assists in 28 games. His 15 points are only good enough for 366th in pool scoring, going into Saturday's action, which is so far down from his usual top-100 finishes in scoring.

If you were going to get all sour on Huselius for next season, I should remind you that the 2012 season is a contract year for him, so I would take that into consideration, possibly making Huselius into a bargain pick next season.

ImplicationsSaturday night will be the last night of action for Huselius on Don D.'s roster and I would have to think that Don is hoping for one last hurrah, although he is probably not expecting one at all. Don is currently in the mix for the second jersey prize of the season, now 8 points back going into the busy Saturday night.

With changing up Huselius in the second waiver draft, Don could really put himself into good shape for the third jersey, if he doesn't win the second one, not to mention being only 24 points out of the money.
