Sheet Player News (Feb 4)

In Thursday night's game against the Avalanche, Minnesota Wild Box 11 defenseman Cam Barker suffered an eye injury during a fight against Brandon Yip during the 2nd period of the game and didn't return to action.  No word just yet about how long Barker will be out of the line-up, so we'll consider him day-to-day until more news drops or he returns to the line-up.

The New Jersey Devils decided to make Box 30 defenseman Mark Fraser into a healthy scratch on Thursday night against the Rangers and it seemingly worked in their favour, as the Devils won the game 3-2. Fraser has been a healthy scratch a few times already this year, not to mention missing games due to injury, so it isn't a big surprise that he was singled out.

I have kind of dropped the ball again on the Maple Leafs goaltending situation, as their season has gone from working towards the playoffs and into auditions for the 2012 season, James Reimer has continued to impress the Leafs brass, earning another start on Thursday night, forcing Jonas Gustavsson to become a healthy scratch again.  Reimer picked up his first career shutout on Thursday night, which should give him some more looks.

The Vancouver Canucks have now moved one step closer to welcoming back Box 10 defenseman Sami Salo to their line-up, as they have sent the oft-injured blueliner down to the minors for a conditioning stint.  The move will try to finish the rehabilitation needed from an Achilles tendon injury, which he suffered in the off-season in his native Finland.  Salo's return would be greatly appreciated, since the loss of Alex Edler to back surgery.
