Well, something had to be done for the Olympics this year and with all the concern and speculation around Team Canada and who they are going to take to the game, it was suggested to me that we play with the selection for a little bit of fun. So, as of very early this morning, the website has now got a link to the Team Canada Selection pool, where you will take a shot at selecting the 23-man Team Canada roster, which will open the tournament on February 16th, 2010.
Now, be weary of the rules, the deadlines and when the team is going to be finalized, because these are all important things to remember when participating.
I won't be posting anyone's team until the 30th of December, just so everyone doesn't necessarily know who has who, but you will know how many times each player has been taken in the pool, as there is a statistics page for that very thought.
As of Tuesday evening, 14 teams have been submitted into the pool and only five players have received selections in all 14 teams. They include, Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, Sidney Crosby, Jarome Iginla and Dany Heatley. Now, this being said, these five will have to be on the ice on February 16th and not just selected on December 30th, because anything can happen between the end of December and the middle of February. You just never know who may be injured, but it looks like a safe bet to pick who is going to be announced as the team in a week's time.
This is a free pool, with no prizes, just bragging rights at the end of it all. Have some fun with it... that's all I ask!

Well, I must commend the two brothers ahead of me for having the good sense to not take Pronger. I wish Hockey Canada had made the same choice.
