Instead of staying home nursing some flu symptoms, Teemu Selanne opted to play in the Ducks last game against the Stars on Thursday night. Unfortunately for him, Selanne didn't know that he was going have his hand broken and that he'll be put on the shelf from anywhere between 4-to-6 weeks. The Ducks have been an inconsistent club of late and the loss of Selanne will only exacerbate the situation with a new face taking his spot in the line-up.
In 27 games with the Ducks this season, Selanne has 14 goals and 7 assists, which ranks him in the top 100 in pool scoring this year, which is pretty good for the 39-year old Finnish winger. He is proving that he has lots left in the tank, but the season will now stall for him for the next month (or more). It will be interesting to see how his surgically repaired hand will do when he returns, hoping that his scoring touch was not affected.
It's been another bad day of injury news for Chris, who lost his new number one goalie to a stiff neck and now loses his best goal scorer to a broken hand. What a ridiculous year he is having in the Draft and all he can do is shake his head and wonder if there is any good luck on the horizon.
Selanne is a Box 4 forward on the Sheet and has been taken five times this year. Since he's going to be on the shelf for a while, could I suggest to you taking Ryan Kesler, who leads the box with 25 points this year?
