The Rangers were busy on Wednesday morning on the waiver wire, as they have claimed Erik Christensen from the Anaheim Ducks, who was waived after the team had him back up from a conditioning assignment to the minors. Christensen had a lot of upside when he was first dealt from Atlanta to Pittsburgh in the Hossa deal, but has now failed in Pittsburgh and now Anaheim in trying to find a full-time job.
In hopes of getting him to the minors for some game time, the Rangers have put Steve Valiquette on the waiver wire to facilitate the move. Valiquette has been a very good back-up goalie for Henrik Lundqvist, which may make him a very attractive player to a lower-tiered team for acquisition. He is expected to be claimed tomorrow, so see where he goes tomorrow.
