More Injuries Than Scratches on Monday

The Dallas Stars went into Monday's against the Sharks without both Box 8 forward, Jere Lehtinen, and Box 10 defenseman, Matt Niskanen. Lehtinen was held out of the line-up due to his recurring groin injury, which flared up again, but I don't think its considered serious. He'll just get a night or two off before the holiday break. Niskanen was a healthy scratch for the Stars on Monday, as a way to improve on his struggling season.

The Flyers are having even more bad luck with their goaltending, as Monday night's game saw Brian Boucher go down with a minor injury, a laceration to one of his fingers. He was pulled out of the game against the Panthers as a precaution, as most teams will not let players back in the game with lacerations to their hand, because of the bacteria and germs inside their gloves. Boucher is also not expected to be in the line-up on Wednesday and Michael Leighton will get the start, as he covered for Boucher on Monday night.

The Penguins have managed to get fairly healthy over the last month, getting most of their players back from injury, but going into Monday's game against the Devils, they had to hold Box 30 defenseman, Mark Eaton, out of the line-up due to an undisclosed injury. The injury is not considered to be major and he just needs a few days away from the game.

The Penguins also had an injury scare in the game against the Devils, as Jordan Staal reportedly took a puck to the face, leaving the ice losing a lot of blood. Staal did return back to the ice after the second period and managed to finish the game, negating the scare altogether.
