The Senators haven't been terribly lucky with their injury situation in the early part of the year, having one of their star players leave two out of three games, before they have completed. On Monday, Daniel Alfredsson left the Senators' game against the Capitals with an undisclosed injury, but much like Alex Kovalev's injury on the weekend, Alfredsson hopes that the injury is minor enough to come back right away.
In 3 games so far this season, Alfredsson has been somewhat snakebitten offensively, only registering a single assist. This is definitely one of the telling signs of why the Senators have started the season 0-2-1 and are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings early on.
One draft team is hoping that this injury is minor and that Alfredsson can come back with a vengeance. Neil's team is right in the mix of the draft standings, currently sitting in 7th place through Monday's action, only 5 points out of 1st, so a quick return from Alfredsson would likely be most appreciated. Neil can be thankful that Jaroslav Halak, Phil Kessel and John-Michael Liles have all gotten to good starts to keep him afloat.
On the selection sheet, I have yet to determine if anyone has chosen Alfredsson, but since he is in the top box of the Eastern Conference forwards, I highly doubt that he was taken over the likes of Alex Ovechkin or Sidney Crosby. I would even go so far as to speculate that most would take Steven Stamkos over the Ottawa star, if the other two were not around.
