After clearing waivers this morning, the Chicago Blackhawks have sent both forward Ryan Potulny and defenseman Jassen Cullimore down to Rockford of the AHL, finalizing their roster for opening night, which goes tonight in Colorado.
Potulny and Cullimore were both signed on with the team as free agents this Summer, with Potulny coming with some medium-to-high expectations with the possibility of more ice-time. Unfortunately, he seems to have disappointed the coaching staff so much that a demotion was in order. In Cullimore's case, he has been floating between the minors and the big leagues for some time already and he is on the payroll to give the Blackhawks a little more depth.
Potulny is the only one of the two in question that has any value in the pools at the moment, being situated in Box 6 of the selection sheet. With the team's drop off in depth this year, Potulny figured onto the sheet and may not have been a bad option before now. If you haven't picked your team yet, you may want to avoid Potulny now or until there are some call-ups to the roster later on in the year.
