Maltby Calls It a Career

Well, he wasn't a big fantasy player himself, but he was sure instrumental in some winning teams in Detroit, so there definitely was an indirect effect by Kirk Maltby on an annual basis.

After 16 NHL seasons, 1,072 games, 128 goals, 132 assists, 867 PIM and four Stanley Cups, Maltby called it a career on Tuesday after failing to make the grade as a 37-year old player in Detroit during training camp.

Maltby's career highs included three 14-goal seasons and a 37-point season in 2003.  Those kind of numbers were not the kind that he as going to get him drafted in any of the hockey pools, but he was sure a great hockey player.
