It looks like the Columbus Blue Jackets will be without forward Kristian Huselius for at least their next game after blocking a shot on Saturday night against the Chicago Blackhawks, injuring his foot/ankle in the process. Huselius was seen limping after the game and was reevaluated on Monday, which is when the news dropped that he will be made unavailable for Monday night's game against Philadelphia.
Already in the 2011 season, Huselius has 5 points in 7 games, placing him 135th in the early season rankings on my pool sheet. He should be considered day-to-day, since there was nothing in his exams to suggest that any bones were broken, it will likely be more of a bruise with some swelling. Saying that, their first tests may not have registered well with all the swelling, so there may still be some further bad news down the line.
The Jackets are off to a decent start to the season, going 4-3-0 in their first seven, but the Central Division is so tight that Columbus is currently in last place in the division.
In the draft, Don D., who currently sits 18th place in the standings, is the one holding onto Huselius and hoping for the least amount of time on the shelf. Don has been dealing with more cold players than he has been dealing with injuries, as Huselius is the only name on the list that's associated with his team.
