Sheet Player News (Oct 12)

The Ducks are not starting the 2011 season very well and you can already tell that they are scrambling to find ways to generate some sort of offense. Box 8 forward Dan Sexton was scratched on Monday evening for Aaron Voros, in hopes a little bit more of a physical presence may help the club. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be the case, as the Ducks lost 5-1 to the Blues. I would expect to see Sexton back in the line-up on Wednesday when the Canucks visit.

As a precautionary measure, the Predators have called Box 16 goaltender Mark Dekanich back up from Milwaukee of the AHL, just in case Pekka Rinne is not ready to go for the team's next game on Wednesday (away to Chicago). Rinne left the team's last game on the weekend with an apparent lower-body injury, but the team maintains the injury isn't major, but they can't be too careful with this situation.

A couple of notes from the Penguins' blueline this morning. First, the team opened up their game against a shorthanded Devils team without the services of Box 29 defenseman Brooks Orpik, as he was mysteriously scratched. There is some belief that he may be feeling some after effects of off-season surgery, but that hasn't been confirmed by the team. Second, during the game, Box 30 defenseman Zbynek Michalek left the game with an undisclosed injury and didn't return. The Penguins have turned into one of the more secretive teams in the league, so it would have to be a major situation before we find out anything more concrete.
