On Tuesday, the Atlanta Thrashers moved one step closer to getting Ondrej Pavelec back in their line-up by sending him down to their minor league affiliate in Chicago for a conditioning stint, which should include at least one start.
Pavelec has been out of the Thrashers line-up since opening night, when he collapsed to the ice suddenly, suffering a concussion due to hitting his head on the landing. Pavelec was only on the ice for two minutes before getting carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital. He has been cleared to play now and a conditioning stint in the AHL will help move closer to a scheduled start on Saturday for the Thrashers.
This is good news for Stuart in the draft, who has been without his second goalie for three weeks now. His team has really been suffering in the early part of the season, dropping down to 19th place after Tuesday night's action. Getting some more help in the crease should help his cause a little bit, but having the rest of his draft team step up would also be very beneficial to his cause.
