Sharp Out With Upper-Body Injury

An apparent upper-body injury is what kept Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp out of the line-up on Saturday night, missing out on the home opener and banner raising.

Sharp was able to play in the Blackhawks' season opener against the Avalanche, where he picked up a goal and an assist, but I cannot see where, if it happened in the game, he picked up the injury.  He was a surprise name on the scratches list on Saturday night, but it sounds like the injury is minor and he will likely go in Chicago's next game, Monday night in Buffalo.

ImplicationsSharp's 2 points this week was rather helpful to Benson in the draft, who went into Sunday morning's action in 3rd place with 19 points. It's hard not to think that he may have missed out on moving up to 2nd place without Sharp in the line-up, but we really can't say that for sure. It sounds like he'll be back for the start of Week Two, so there should be few worries there.

Sharp is a member of Box 4 on the selection sheet, which may be a very inviting spot for someone to pick him in. This injury shouldn't shy you away from picking him, if that's what you're going to do in this very last minute sense.
