Things were looking up for Pascal Leclaire in the 2011 season, he was finally looking like his old self and playing really well behind a sub-par team, but it has now taken a turn for the worst as of Thursday night. Early on in Thursday night's contest against the Carolina Hurricanes, Leclaire was involved in a minor collision and ended up suffering a lower-body injury, forcing him to leave the game.
The diagnosis on Friday is that Leclaire suffered a groin injury and he won't accompany the team to Montreal for Saturday's early Hockey Night In Canada match-up and will be re-evaluated next week. We'll just call him day-to-day until otherwise noted.
In four appearances with the Senators to start the season, including the quick one on Thursday, Leclaire has played in 185 minutes with an 0-2-1 record, 3.24 GAA and .903 save percentage. The numbers don't really reflect how well he had been playing, often referred to as the Senators' best player in their losses.
Now, being referred to as the team's best player isn't going to help Wayne in the draft this year. Winning the draft requires getting those results to work out in your favour. Wayne currently sits in 12th spot in the early part of this season, already 11 points back of 1st place and he only has 1 victory from his goaltending tandem
