Doan Given Three Games

On Monday afternoon, the NHL came down on Shane Doan of the Phoenix Coyotes for his late, blindside hit on the Anaheim Ducks' Dan Sexton on Sunday night. Doan was given a 3-game suspension for the hit, which you can see in the embedded video below, as per the new guidelines on blindside hits with principle contact to the head.

Doan will be eligible to return to the Coyotes' line-up on Tuesday, October 26th, when the Coyotes are in Ottawa to take on the Senators.

ImplicationsDoan, a draft pick of Stuart's, and will now be out of the line-up for this week, where the Coyotes only have two games on the schedule, plus another game a week from today.  It may be a week's vacation for the Coyotes captain, but it is only three games in the end.  The timing is relatively poor for Stuart, as he's currently sitting in 18th place, trying his best not to fall down any further.
