The Ottawa Senators have suffered a small setback with Jason Spezza back on the shelf with a groin injury. Spezza was a late scratch from the Senators game against the Sabres on Friday night due to a re-aggravation of the injury, which he suffered earlier on in the season. Spezza is considered to be day-to-day and is expected to miss Saturday night's contest against the Canadiens as well.
Spezza has gotten off to a pretty good start for the Senators, picking up 1 goal and 4 assists in the first five games of the season, which would have him on a pretty good pace to finish the season with. I'm sure everyone hopes that the injury doesn't keep him out of the line-up for too long, because it does look like there is points being left on the sidelines when the Senators play.
Spezza is looking to bounce back from somewhat of an off year, ranking 84th in league scoring with only 57 points in 60 games.
In the draft, Spezza was taken in the 3rd round, 55th overall by John P., who currently sits 16th with 47 points. If Spezza is to have his bounce back season, the 55th overall pick should be a bit of a bargain, but he has to heal properly and get back into the line-up in a hurry to have that come to fruition.
John's forwards have not been off to a great start in almost three weeks of action, currently sitting tied for 14th in the pool with only 30 points so far.
