The Rangers have made a couple of moves to help insert a couple new faces into their line-up on opening night. A couple of players were waived on Tuesday, both Tim Kennedy and Todd White have been placed on waivers, likely to be sent down to Hartford of the AHL, if they are to clear in 24 hours.
Kennedy was signed by the Rangers in the off-season after the Sabres bought out the forward following an unfavourable arbitration ruling in Kennedy's favour. White was brought into the fold in a minor trade with the Atlanta Thrashers this Summer, hoping to give the Rangers a little more depth down the middle.
With the arrivals of Ruslan Fedotenko and Derek Stepan to the roster, moves had to be made off the roster to both fit in the new players and fit everyone underneath the salary cap ceiling.
Kennedy is the only pool player that takes a big hit, as the Box 23 forward is likely going to head down to the minors after he clears tomorrow, unless some other team can find a spot for him. Somehow, I don't see him getting claimed by another team at this current junction, as there are plenty of players just like him getting waived at the moment.
