Datsyuk Sits

The Red Wings were without one of their big stars in their 5-2 win over the Kings on Thursday night. Pavel Datsyuk was sidelined with an upper-body injury, but is only listed as out day-to-day for the time being. There wasn't a lot of panic surrounding this injury, to say it was long-term, but there is a bit of a panic with all of the injuries to their forward ranks at the moment.

Datsyuk has gotten off to a bit of a slow start this year, having only two assists in the first five games of the season. You could almost pin it down to the amount of hockey that the Red Wings have played in the past two or three seasons, maybe having played a little too much. Fatigue could have led the other injured Red Wings to further hurt themselves, not directly, but in an over compensation way.

ImplicationsWell, it should come as no surprise that Datsyuk was picked all over the fantasy world. He was a fairly popular pick in Box 1 of the Sheet, while also being taken quite high by Trevor in the Draft. Datsyuk is a top notch player, who should get lots of points when healthy. Now pool teams will have to decide whether or not his value goes down with this current injury.
