It's being reported this morning that Blues' forward, T.J. Oshie had to undergo an emergency appendectomy on Saturday morning after going to the hospital on Friday night, after the Blues' game against Minnesota, because of some pain and nausea. The surgery was reportedly a success and that Oshie will remain out of the line-up indefinitely. Blues goalie, Chris Mason, had the same procedure last season and it kept him out of the line-up for about two weeks.
Oshie prior to the surgery this morning, was having a pretty slow start to his season, scoring-wise, as the young forward has only registered one goal and two assists in the first eight games of the year. He has come into the 2010 season with higher expectations put upon him, especially after his breakout campaign in 2009. Possibly a little bit of bed rest will settle him down and get his mind back on hockey and relax him enough to start scoring again.
In the Draft, Oshie was a 14th round pick by Larry (231st overall), meaning his last pick, so the expectations in the fantasy line this season are possibly a bit lower. Certainly was a good bargain pick, if Oshie can come back with a vengeance from this setback. Larry currently sits in 14th spot in the standings, so an injury like this certainly doesn't help his chances of moving up any time soon.
On the Sheet, Oshie is available in Box 7, where he was taken twice at the start of the year. He'll only be missing two weeks, so there may not be any rush to drop him just yet. No one else in that box has really gone gangbusters with their season, so there should be no rush to move him.
