The Devils and Brendan Shanahan have mutually agreed to part ways after it was found that Shanahan would have a diminished role on the team, if he were to continue to play. Shanahan will take the next couple of weeks to decide on whether or not he'll continue to play or end up retiring. The Devils have a deep list of young players that have successfully integrated themselves with the team going into the season and they have managed to edge the wily veteran out of the job.
Well, there goes another sheet player. Damn. This has been a bad year for setting up the sheet, as there are a number of the young players who didn't quite make the team, most of which were sent to junior, so they won't be up at all this year. I will be updating the injury page later on to show who has been sent down and whether or not they'll be back up with the team.
