The Thrashers decided to add more depth to their line-up, as they have claimed forward/defenseman Christoph Schubert off of re-entry waivers from the Senators. The Senators sent Schubert down to the minors during traning camp, but the recent call-up meant that he had to pass through waivers again.
In 2009, Schubert had 3 goals and 3 assists in only 50 games for the Senators.
Schubert, 27, has a salary cap hit of $883,000, which will now be split between both the Senators and Thrashers, thanks to the re-entry waivers claim. The Thrashers were not in any danger of hitting the salary cap ceiling this year, so the addition shouldn't be an issue to the team.
