Well, I am currently getting through the newsletter at the moment, but I thought I would do a quick post with this update, since it's really big.
The Bruins will now be without Milan Lucic for upwards of six weeks after undergoing surgery on his thumb this weekend. The young pugilist could come off the shelf sooner, but the Bruins will likely be cautious with his return, since he's such a big player in their organization.
In the first six games of the season, Lucic had amassed three assists, but hadn't picked up a goal yet. He really hadn't picked up his physical play in the opening games, having only nine minutes in penalties to start the year. He would have been good for a bit more minutes, once he got into the rivalries of the Northeast Division and he was yet to face-off against rivals in Montreal or Mike Komisarek in Toronto.
In the Draft, Lucic was taken by Dale B., who is already without Phil Kessel in his line-up. The six weeks it will take for Lucic to return, we should be coming up on our waiver draft, so it will be interesting to see what Dale does there.
On the Sheet, Lucic is the most popular player in his box, taken 16 times. He's much more popular than anyone else, being the only player to be taken in the double-digit figures. It will be interesting to see if he'll be dropped at all, especially with some of the other injuries in that box. Mike Fisher or Tyler Kennedy may be the right guy to switch to now.
