The news continues to get worse for the Dallas Stars, as they will now have Brad Richards in the press box, looking down on their game tonight versus the Kings. Richards is apparently suffering with a sore groin and will be replaced by Perttu Lindgren, who was called up from the team's new affiliate, the Texas Stars of the AHL. For now, the injury is considered minor and will keep him out on a day-to-day basis, but there may still be another evaluation of his condition in the next couple days, which would incur an update.
This injury comes as a huge blow to the Stars, who are currently 7th in the West, as they are losing their top player to this injury. Richards has scored three goals and six assists in the first seven games of the season, leading all of his teammates in that respect.
In the Draft, Richards was taken by Ryan in the 7th round, 117th overall and is also in Box 2 of the Sheet. This is the second straight story of players from that round and box of both pools to go down.
Ryan is currently sitting in the middle of the pack and is now losing his best forward in this young season, so this won't sit well with him, especially if the injury is long term.
As for the Sheet, Richards was not one of the fortunate players to be taken in that second box, as he was actually passed over once for Keith Tkachuk.
