Word out of Canucks camp is that Kyle Wellwood has suffered a broken toe in the team's 3-1 victory over the Maple Leafs, which will keep the forward out of the line-up for up to three weeks. The Canucks have called up Sergei Shirokov from the Manitoba Moose to fill in for Wellwood, beginning tonight at home to the Oilers.
In the first ten games of the season, Wellwood has only registered one assist, which is considered to be under-achieving for his role on the team.
Wellwood was not selected in the Draft, but was selected six times on the Sheet, which will likely change in the coming days, as he is now injured, not to mention his under-achieving.
