2011 2nd Round Pick |
The Thrashers took advantage of the Blackhawks cap woes again this Summer with a deal that sees the rights to Andrew Ladd head down to Atlanta in exchange for prospect defenseman Ivan Vishnevsky and a 2nd round pick next Summer. Vishnevsky is a pretty big defenseman that has been bouncing around from minor league system to minor league system, trying to breakthrough to the NHL. Vishnevsky seemed to be a good chance of that happening with the Thrashers, but will now have to try and crack the Blackhawks roster this Fall.
Ladd has been an instrumental role player for two Stanley Cup teams now in his career, the Hurricanes in 2006 and Blackhawks in 2010. He should be able to give the Thrashers some good 2nd line abilities, if need be, but he has been groomed to be more of a checking line centre.
Since Ladd is unsigned and Vishnevsky is still a prospect without a roster spot, no salary cap information is needed to be disclosed at this point.
