The Oilers, 8 points out of 8th place in the West, will likely start listening to offers from other teams before the trade deadline sooner rather than later now that their top scorer will now be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Shawn Horcoff (Dennis) underwent shoulder surgery on Monday and will now have to be shelved for the rest of the season. It is believed that Horcoff re-injured his shoulder during the All-Star Game festivities and tried playing with the pain for a few games, until Friday night, when he took the night off.
In 53 games this season, Horcoff had 50 points (21G, 29A) and was on pace for a season around 79 points.
Dennis had already made his first drop and pick-up in the second Waiver Draft, but it will be pretty obvious to who he'll be dropping in the second round. Dennis has suffered through so many injuries and this just piles it all on a little thicker.
