Late on Thursday, the San Jose Sharks compensated the non-signings of Brian Campbell and Wade Redden by adding veteran defenseman, Rob Blake, to their team. Blake signed a 1-year, $5 million deal with the Sharks.
Blake may not bring the offensive capability of a Campbell or Redden, but his experience and he brings a Stanley Cup ring to the party as well. Last season, Blake had 9 goals and 22 assists in 71 games for the Kings, which isn't bad for the 38-year old veteran. He still could be considered somewhat of a good pool pick, if taken at the right time.
