The New York Rangers announced that they have signed defenseman Paul Mara to a 1-year deal worth $1.95 million. Mara re-joins a Ranger blueline that has seen a couple new faces join and has arguably been improved.
Last season, Mara had 17 points (1G, 16A) in 61 games for the Rangers. His scoring production from the backend has dwindled in previous years, which makes him less of a candidate for your pool team, but he could feature in the later rounds on a gamble that he re-gains his scoring abilities. The inclusion of Wade Redden and Dimitri Kalinin to the Rangers line-up will likely ease the pressure upon the 28-year old defender.
