The Canadiens and Wild were involved in a minor deal on Friday, which saw defenseman Shawn Belle head to Montreal and forward Corey Locke go to Minnesota. Both players have been in the minor league systems with less than positive results in making their respective big clubs. With this deal, the teams get some new blood to try and infuse in their clubs or their minor league clubs, at the very least.
To Montreal | Age | Games | Points | Contract on July 1st |
Sean Belle, D | 23 | 0 | 0 | RFA |

To Minnesota | ||||
Corey Locke, F | 23 | 1 | 0 | RFA |
The depth on defense in Montreal is pretty substantial and it's getting deeper by the week with good young talent that was drafted in the previous seasons. On the other side of the coin, the Wild could always use some good new talent up front and Locke comes with some upside. There is a greater likelihood that Locke makes his new team before Belle makes his and could be a good pool commodity.
