Lightning Sign Recchi

If you've been Jones-ing for a Tampa Bay Lightning, since it's only been a couple days since the last one, here we go again. The Lightning signed forward Mark Recchi, the travelling veteran, to a 1-year contract with a base salary of $1.25 million with incentives that are also worth $1.5 million. So, we'll make that a total cap hit of $2.75 million for his services.

Recchi had a pretty productive season, scoring 48 points in 72 games between the Atlanta Thrashers and Pittsburgh Penguins. He seemingly still has some pool value, so keep him in mind during the middle rounds of the draft. It's uncertain as to whether he'll increase his production or his durability to keep his production going.

As you can see, the addition of Recchi makes the team nearly complete. They technically have enough signed veterans to start next season, with just enough room to let Steven Stamkos play as well. The Lightning have 22 players signed on above at a cap hit of $48 million. The elimination of Boyle from the line-up was key to keep the costs low for the Lightning.
