The Blue Jackets have proudly announced that they signed their first round pick from this summer's draft, Nikita Filatov, to a 3-year, entry-level deal on Thursday. Filatov has a strong desire to play in North America this season, be it in the NHL with the Blue Jackets or with his Canadian Junior team, the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL. Either way, he'll be playing some North American hockey this winter, which bodes well for the young Russian star.
Filatov will likely see the entry-level maximum salary for his draft year, $875,000, plus some significant bonuses for performance.
This kid may want to be put on your radar for pool purposes, he is supposed to be an offensive wonder, but he'll have to adapt to the North American game rather quickly, if he's to make the team.
