Orpik Makes a Mint to Stay

In a deal that eerily looks like what Jay McKee earned a few years ago for being the best shot blocker, Brooks Orpik has signed a 6-year deal, worth $22.5 million to stay with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Orpik will count $3.75 million against the cap in those six years and he only posted 11 points in 78 games for the Penguins. He was considered one of the best physical defenders available, leading the Penguins with 239 hits during the season.
