Kings & Stars Swap Minor Leaguers

The Dallas Stars acquired winger Lauri Tukonen from the Los Angeles Kings for winger Richard Clune on Monday. Tukonen, somewhat of a prized prospect, couldn't quite crack the Kings line-up in the past couple of seasons, won't get the same chance this season, but will get a chance to try with their Pacific Division rivals. Clune, seemingly more of a career minor leaguer, split time between the AHL and ECHL last season, which doesn't necessarily bode well for the Kings. Clune does bear a lot of likenesses to the other LA prospects, smaller and faster, however.

To DallasAgeGamesPointsContract on July 1st
Lauri Tukonen, F21101 year, $886,000
---
To Los Angeles
Richard Clune, F 21 0 0 2 years, $625,000

The only real pool value in this trade is Tukonen heading to Dallas. There could only be speculation as to why the Kings gave up on the Finnish winger who was a first round draft pick in 2004. The Stars have had good luck with the Finns, which means good things for Tukonen. Clune will likely be destined to remain with AHL affiliates and have no pool value.
