Morrison Flies to Anaheim

Well, it looks to be official now in Anaheim. The Ducks have signed centre Brendan Morrison to a 1-year deal worth $2.75 million. Another reunion of sorts from the old Vancouver days, between Morrison, GM Burke and assistant GM Nonis. This deal adds some more depth down the middle for Anaheim, but it also puts the team in a little more financial trouble as well.

Morrison finished the year playing only 39 games, thanks to injuries through the year. He scored 9 goals and 16 assists for the Canucks, but seems to be healthy going into the Summer and then into training camp.

The team will also be joining the trade parade this summer, as they will have to make some more room to fit in more players for a full active roster. The number of returning skaters (see below) is only at 18 and those players have an estimated cap hit of $54.6 million... only leaving themselvves $2.1 million for five players. Names like Mathieu Schneider, Sean O'Donnell and Francois Beauchemin are all floated around in the rumour mills as the first ones to fly the coop out of Anaheim.
