The Stars were without Jamie Benn in their last contest before the All-Star break on Wednesday night. The young sniper suffered an injury against the Canucks on Monday night and it didn't sound like Benn will be good to go against the Oilers early on Wednesday morning. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed, but I don't expect the news to be major. Benn and the Stars open up the post-All-Star break schedule against the Canucks on February 1st, I would expect him back in the line-up then, until further notice.
Benn has definitely been one of the better players for the Stars, leading up to the All-Star break this season. He is currently on pace to smash his rookie season numbers, currently having 33 points (13 goals and 20 assists) in 46 games for Dallas, ranking him (unofficially) 102nd in pool scoring going into the break. In 2010, he finished the year in 184th with 41 points in 82 games. A fine improvement.
In the draft this season, Benn belongs to the 14th place team of Ryan M., who has fallen on some tough times since the first waiver draft concluded at the end of Week Nine. Ryan did move up a couple spots after the draft, going from 8th to 6th, but then dropped pretty quickly to 14th. Benn has been one of his best forwards this year, ranking tied for 2nd among forwards with 33 points, a player that he can't have out of the line-up for too long.
