Draft Player Scratches (Jan 19)

The Blue Jackets are not faring too well in the Western Conference standings at the moment, threatening to drop down into 14th before too long and changes may be on the horizon. Anton Stralman, a restricted free agent in the Summer, may get a long look from other teams, as he's now found his way into the coach's doghouse, spending another night in the press box, now that Rostislav Klesla is back to being healthy again.  Stralman was an offensive talent when he joined the club last year, but has failed to find that touch again.

It's that touch that obviously got him some notoriety with Jani K., as that's the team he landed on in the draft this year.  Jani has dropped down to 14th spot in the standings, since not finding much success with scoring from his depth players, including Stralman.  He should have a pretty good pick in the second waiver draft coming up.

The Senators are struggling mightily in the Eastern Conference and are getting closer and closer to becoming sellers, rather than buyers at the trade deadline. Peter Regin, a Box 23 forward, has been one of those cold forwards that hasn't been able to produce much offensively of late, so he was demoted to the press box as a healthy scratch. Regin isn't due to be a rental-type player for a few years yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was thrown into a deal as an add-on in the next six weeks.

John P. likely isn't too pleased with Regin this year, as he's been outscored by a waiver draft pick up in the last six weeks, compared to his whole season.  Hardly the type of production that any team is looking for this season and I would imagine Regin may find his way out the door on John's team at the second waiver draft in a few weeks.
