Detroit Red Wings back-up goalie Chris Osgood has an appointment to see a specialist in Philadelphia on Monday to check out a nagging groin injury and see if surgery will be necessary to correct the problem. The Box 16 goalie has reportedly been dealing with the issue for quite some time now, but it has now come to a point where he should have it corrected, so he'll be ready for the playoff run in the Spring. He's currently listed as out day-to-day, but I think we are all expected to see him on the list for quite a while.
A lower-body injury is the reported reason as to why Christopher Higgins was out of the Panthers line-up on Saturday night. I haven't found many details about the injury to Higgins, other than it is just a lower-body issue, so there will be plenty of mystery surrounding the Box 24 forward. On the plus side, I don't think anyone took him in the pool, so there should be little concern in the big picture.
It isn't quite a flu bug that kept Sean Bergenheim out of the Lightning line-up on Saturday night, rather it was some kind of respiratory illness, to which he has been playing with for about three weeks. The Box 24 forward was finally given a night off, because of the illness. It looked like he was scheduled to go on Saturday night, but in the end he was given the night off.
