A slight knee knock suffered on Thursday night against the Bruins was enough to keep Zach Bogosian out of the Thrashers' line-up on Friday night against the Devils. The injury is not considered to be too serious, but in the case of precaution, keeping one of their prized young players from getting hurt even further has to be a priority, especially in the dog days of the season. We will consider him day-to-day for now, calling him questionable for Sunday's match in Montreal.
With some new blood on the blueline for the Thrashers, Bogosian's time on the power play has been seemingly limited this season, which is likely one of the telling factors to his dwindling scoring numbers this season. Bogosian only has 6 points in 33 games with the Thrashers this season, which is nearly half the pace he was scoring at last season. The addition of Dustin Byfuglien to the line-up, has definitely given Bogosian a limited role as a 20-year old blueliner. Probably a good thing for his development in the long run.
Unfortunately, his development for the long run isn't quite what Dale C. is looking for from Bogosian this season in the draft. Dale was counting on Bogosian to really step up his game in his 3rd season with the club, but that isn't to be. Dale now sits in 19th place in the standings, tied for last in the second segment of the season and some of that can be traced back to having the worst group of defensemen in the pool this season. Dale has only seen 38 points from five blueliners (one dropped at the waiver draft) and 22 of those points have come from Tomas Kaberle.
