Stastny Picks Up the Flu

The Colorado Avalanche hosted the lowly Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night and they didn't need the services of Paul Stastny, who was sitting out of the line-up with flu-like symptoms, in their 4-3 overtime win. Possibly, if Stastny was in the line-up, the win would have been a little more comfortable, but they picked up the two points they were looking for in the standings and they can move on from there.

Stastny will be listed as day-to-day with the flu and I would think he would be probable for Thursday's game, when the Avalanche play host to the Coyotes.

ImplicationsThis injury news is likely only a small speed bump for Benson G., who has Stastny in the pool, as he is safely in 4th place in the standings after Tuesday night's action. I would imagine he would have preferred to have seen Stastny in the line-up against the Sabres, since he is only 5 points out of 2nd place and likely doesn't want that gap to get any bigger.
