Reports out of Pittsburgh are that Sidney Crosby's upper-body injury that was first noted on Thursday is actually a concussion, although the Penguins will not confirm that the injury was not the result of a high hit from David Steckel during the Winter Classic. Now that Crosby has been officially diagnosed with a concussion, he will have to miss at least a week of action, which will potentially put him back into the line-up late next week, the more likely date being December 15th against Boston.
It's hard not to notice Crosby and what he has done this season, leading the league in scoring with 32 goals and 34 assists in 41 games this season, but now his scoring lead will be challenged with an untimely injury like this one. Going into Friday's action, Crosby has a 10-point lead on the scoring race and will now miss a minimum of three games with this injury, with the possibility of more.
Of course, this is terrible news for Wayne H., who is counting on his best player to get well soon, since he is in the middle of the race for the money positions. Wayne has been making up ground on Allan S., who currently sits 4th to Wayne's 5th, cutting the gap down to 11 points for a money position. Losing the best player in the pool will likely throw a big wrench into those works.
