The word out of the San Jose Sharks is that Logan Couture is doubtful to play in Thursday night'a contest against the Oilers, due to a leg/knee injury that the rookie suffered against the Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. Couture was part of a knee-on-knee collision with the Leafs' Colton Orr and then had to leave the game afterwards. The prognosis of the injury was quite vague, but it was somewhat assured that the injury was minor and he could be back in the Sharks' line-up rather soon.
Couture appears on many critic's lists as either the mid-season Rookie of the Year or a runner-up for the award, as he just barely qualifies for the nod this year. In 44 games this season, Couture has 19 goals and 9 assists, which puts him 2nd in rookie points for skaters and 1st in goals. He has been a great compliment to Ryane Clowe's game this season, as the pair have found good chemistry through the season.
In the draft, Couture was taken in the 2nd round of the waiver draft by Clayton C. and has been a pretty good pick-up since he was activated in Week Ten. Since being picked up, Couture has had 12 points in 19 games, but that has barely helped Clayton's standing in the pool, as he still sits in 19th after Wednesday night's action.
