Draft Player Scratches (Jan 7)

The Oilers are still trying to find some consistency in the growing stages of their season, which means everyone is accountable for their play, even the veterans. It appears that Kurtis Foster was a healthy scratch for Edmonton on Thursday night, as he didn't dress against the Islanders.  Foster has been less-than-impressive this season, even with the absence of Ryan Whitney from the line-up, he can't seem to pick up anymore points.  In 37 games, Foster only has 3 goals and 8 assists, a far cry from his early season projections.

Foster belongs to Clayton C. in the draft this year, who now stands to be the Basement Dweller again in Week Fourteen with another sad performance from his best players.  With only 4 points through Thursday's action, it will continue to be a long season for his side.

The Montreal Canadiens are being hush-hush surrounding an injury to another one of their defensemen at the moment, as Roman Hamrlik sat out of Thursday's game against the Penguins with an undisclosed injury.  The nature of the injury, nor the severity, has been published anywhere, but we'll have to list him as day-to-day.  This undisclosed injury comes at the same time that the Canadiens announced that non-pool defenseman Josh Gorges will be out for the remainder of the year after it was determined he'll need major knee surgery in the coming days.

Hamrlik has been having a decent season with the Canadiens, scoring 3 goals and adding 15 assists in 38 games, just under half a point per game.  Dale B. has been collecting the points from Hamrlik this season, but despite having one of the healthier teams in the pool, he can't seem to get as many points as he might like, sitting down in 13th place, only 7 points out of the top 10.
